There are many places to register your domain names, but you can’t beat GoDaddy for price and ease of use. They are the largest domain registrar on the internet and are based in Scottsdale Arizona. The GoDaddy website does present some challenges to some users. The user interface is confusing. Not for us veterans of the internet. We appreciate the tools they provide. For the newly initiated, all they have to do is call GoDaddy’s free tech support for help with domain registration or any of their many web products.
However, no company can be good at everything. So, while they are a great digital partner for your domain name needs, they lack proficiency with other common web services.

Over the years as laptop and computer monitor resolutions have increased giving us more detail, a website designed 5 to 8 years ago may appear unusually small. Back in the late 90s it was common to build websites with a page width of 6oo to 700 pixels. The common pixel resolution for the monitors back then was 800 to 1024. So you can see that 700 would take up most of the monitor. Not any more.

What? Yes, I know. I get it all the time. What’s a Gravatar? An avatar is used in social media to place a face with a name, but it is really just a representation of you. Some people take this to extremes by using photos of celebrities or things that they like. Avatars are small images that add personalization to a media post.
Smart social media users will use avatars that are interesting. Interesting enough to click on. It could be art or something sexy. Don’t be surprised if the sexy female avatar is really a dude trying to get traffic to his web site.

Many web site owners want more control over their website and they do this by renting or installing a CMS (Content Management System). This allows them to add and edit pages through the web browser any where they have a connection. However, CMS may be a weak solution for an online shopping cart.

We talked about web site modularity a couple years ago and it still holds true today. In fact even more so. The idea that one web site is not enough. It doesn’t mean that you need to create more web sites for the purpose of having more, it means that each site may have a special purpose.
Trying to get all the features in one web site is the stuff of enterprise level development and that can be really expensive. If you are a small (very small) business, you may need to look at your web presence in parts.

As a small business owner, I can tell you that most job seekers offer very little in terms of value to the job market. Just recently I spoke to a manager of a UPS store and our conversation confirmed my opinion of the labor pool. Jobbers just want a place they can call “A Job” and retire. Small businesses work within small margins and simply can’t afford to carry the burden of employees that do not help increase profitability.

Lets’ face it. The web gets more complicated every day. We want to be efficient and save money, but it takes a lot of work to get there. When you communicate with someone to ask a question or to initiate a task you need to articulate. Incomplete sentences and half statements only leave the receiver with a big question… “What”? All this does is prolong the conversation and nothing gets done. At least not immediately.
